How to trek around the Annapurna Ranges in Nepal

Trekking is one of the best experiences that you can get and an experience that a mountaineer waits for. One of the best passes for a short trekking trip is around the Annapurna ranges in Nepal.

The Tilicho lake trekking
Through the village of Khangsar, passing across Jomsom you can choose many passes. You can go straight to Thorong and there take a side trek to Tilicho Lake. About 3 and a half days will be needed to complete the journey. The path along the river has been damaged due to flooding in 1997 and since then it is not fixed. Therefore your journey shall begin from Manang. After beginning the Tilicho Lake trekking, within 6 hours you shall be reaching to the Tilicho base camp. After this you will come across 2 paths, one is longer and you have to rise 1000m and get down 700m immediately. The other path might not be this high but the road way is gravely and stony thus can be dangerous for hiking. Since the Grand Barriere ridge arrives soon. It is full of ice and you can see the 1st peak of the Annapurna ranges. Soon after walking a few more hours you shall reach to your destination, the Tilicho Lake. The edges of the lake are very difficult to go about but people often halt there to enjoy the view.


How do you make your journey to the Mardi Himal Trek?
The Annapurna base camp suggest you another route. This hidden route is the Mardi Himal trek. The Machapucharecan be seen from the base camp of this trek.You have to cover a distance of 3300kms by travelling through windy oaths and a dense forest. The route is easy but long. Once you reach to the top, the view of the forest changes to a mountain view where you can notice the Mardi Himal, the South of Annapurna ranges. There are guesthouses to halt at the height of 3580m.


The Short Trek to the Annapurna
One of the shortest treks can happen in this region. Within 7 to 8 days you shall complete the Annapurna short and easy trek and from the Annapurna base camp you can see the ‘Matterhorn of Asia’, the Machapuchare. The hiking along the canyon is wonderful and at the end of your journey you will reach to the Annapurna Sanctuary where rings of mountains shall surround you with its highest peak at 8901km.
